New development possibilities for world's ports

The Manta Port Authority (APM) has announced it is working in partnership with the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) on finalising details of the XIX Congress of Latin American Ports Summit.

"The focus of this year's ports summit will be on the interrelationship between American, European and Asian ports in the face of new development possibilities," APM said.

Speakers at the summit include Agustín Díaz, managing director of the Curaçao Ports Authority, Walter Kemmsies, senior economist for Moffatt & Nichol, and Gabriel Aldoney Vargas, consultant and former president of Empresa Portuaria Valparaíso, Chile.

Topics to be discussed will include the world economy and Latin American port development, the possible effects of the Panama Canal expansion, and the environment.

The Latin American Ports Summit will be held between July 6-9, in Manta, Ecuador.
