Poland's Baltic Container Terminal adds mobile harbor crane

Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Poland recently handled its first heavy cargo using its new harbor cranes. The cargo - two transformers and one electric unit - was shipped by DHL Global Forwarding Poland for delivery to Russia.

The leased crane was shipped from sister company Tartous International Container Terminal (TICT), located in Tartous, Syria, last September, aboard the Condock V. TICT had operated the crane since 2007. Once in Poland, a diesel engine heating system and hydraulic oil tank heating were added to enable the crane to function properly under winter conditions. The crane is currently being used only for the handling of heavy pieces.

BCT is a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), a port management company involved in the operations and development of 21 marine terminals and port projects in 15 countries worldwide.
